I was rifling through an old cigar box I use to keep junk stamps (those that are torn, worn and generally in bad shape) when I came across this stamp that I figured is Hungarian. Then I realized it does not say Magyar, or any other country name.
It is canceled, and the denomination is 30 filler, which is what led me to believe it is Hungarian. It is very much in the style of the late 1940s photogravure stamps of that country.
The top does have perfs, but they are harshly folded over, and because the paper is very thin and crisp I'm leery of trying to unfold them and risk wrecking it further. Its condition was probably why it ended up in the box.
A quick google translation tells me illetek means fee.
Some sort of revenue?
Perfs appear to be 12 1/2 X 12 1/4
Any ideas? Can't find it in Scott's.
