Ohhhh, the Holy Grail for us oddball collectors.

I have been searching for a set of these for awhile now.

I can see we will be getting along quite well Oldgum.

See link to see full set and hear the recordings. http://wfmu.org/MACrec/allbhut.html

Thanks for the link 1775mac. I knew there were more but not how many so that helped.
Anyway, I have another round one that ought to be shared here even though it's not modern. It's Afghanistan and may be Scott's 101 but I'm not sure. It's really hard to tell with these.

Any Afghani experts here can confirm the #?

Very cool. My take on this is Scott #76, the 1877 issue design A9.
The reason is that the circular border is thicker all the way around and whiskers run higher in the face.

To clarify, The inner circle is heavier/thicker the the design A10 where the inner circle time to time is thin.

I'm still leaning towards 101 as A9 has a smaller head and what looks to be a white ring around it, while A10 doesn't. But what do I know?
This brings up something related though. This is one of those times when I feel the images Scott uses are sort of well, atrocious. I suppose most of the time it doesn't really matter. Or maybe they've updated the ancient images I'm looking at in this 1995 classic edition?
Apparently they're better than they used to be though. Check out the A9 from my 1925 edition:

That's barely better than a happy face.

The A9 you show here is the same as my 1933 edition, but it has changed in my 1995 edition of Scott. Take a look at a newer edition, if you have one.
But looking at the stamp again, the inscriptions match A10 design better.
Your example is a wetter print then what Scott had on file. So your first thought should be correct.
