Show Your Show Piece

Speaking of slogan cancels...one of my postcard show pieces is a scene of men using a steam donkey to skid fir logs down the mountain side. A close look at the bark of the logs being skidded shows them to be Douglar Fir, standing to the left of the steam donkey is a small redwood, notice the difference is bark color and texture. The card is canceled in Eureka, Cal Jul 25 1923 with a slogan cancel, a very appropriate "Save The Redwoods" which I found amusing as this card is from a families post card correspondence over a period of about 20 years as each part of the families moved from one logging community to another. The card is from a brother to his sister.

Here is another"SHOW-PEICE" of mine...Well it's two covers(obviously)but what drew me even stained was the top plate block OVER the rubber hand-stamp cachet..You can see a close up of the cachet in pic(s)and I have other variation's of same cachet but nothing really cool like the one this person did...Made it "unusual" for me that's for sure.HAPPY HUNTING!
P.S. The quote was a test...

Maybe not that exciting, but a stamp I've wanted for a long time. My grandfather's zep plate blocks paid for my college education and since then I've wanted at least the individual stamps.

50R4 - very nice. Plate 4 imprints are tough items. Very very few items show any part of "No 4".

I posted a few years back a similar cover. This is an example of the short-lived 24c rate to Italy via Bremen or Hamburg mails; 4, perhaps 5 examples of this rate are known to exist. Chipg owns the one surviving cover with 2 12c 1861s on it which was the discovery example of the rate and a cover that I remember talking to Ray Vogel about when he owned it.

I own another one, and another 24c collector owns one that's in Richard Frajola's census that appears to be a partial cover. Charles Starnes also had one that was stolen and it is as yet unrecovered.

All of those other covers went via Bremen mails.

This one went via Hamburg. So technically the use is unique. I bought it last summer from Cavendish Auctions and it's my favorite cover.

Chipg noticed it and alerted me to it. I am, to say the least, very thankful.

Love that insurance document! You don't often see a 50-cent rate paid by 25 2-cent stamps. In the unlikely event you ever decide to part with it, please let me know.

I emailed a photo of my R6's to the Curtis Collection but have not heard back from them, nor has it been added to their website. I'm wondering what it might be worth?

A block of 19 is nowhere near the largest multiple of R6c. I count 43 larger multiples in the Curtis census... so it really wouldn't fall into the "Nth largest multiple!" category. It's more of a neat aesthetic item, and life insurance policies from that era are not exactly common.

Here is a 41L4, not a capture, but one with a full selvage, but alas none of the 4.
