Ripon Falls at the northern end of Lake Victoria in Uganda was formerly considered the source of the river Nile. In 1862–3 British Army officer John Hanning Speke (1827-1864) was the first European to follow the course of the Nile downstream after discovering the falls that his intuition had marked as the source of the Nile. Here is an image of a stamp depicting Ripon Falls and the Speke Monument, engraved and printed by Bradbury, Wilkinson & Co., Ltd., and issued for use in Uganda on July 28, 1962 as one of a set of four similar stamps commemorating the centenary of Speke's discovery of the source of the Nile, Scott No. 81, plus a photo of the Speke Monument, and an image of a drawing of Ripon Falls by Scottish explorer James Augustus Grant (1827-1892) which was a model for this stamp's design.

Wilderforce Falls is an almost 60 m tall waterfall located in the Wilberforce Gorge of the Hood River in Nunavut, Canada. The falls is one of the few major waterfalls in the world north of the Arctic Circle.
Niagara Falls is the collective name for three waterfalls (the Horseshoe Falls, the American Falls and the Bridal Veil Falls) that straddle the international border between the province of Ontario and the state of New York. The combined falls form the highest flow rate of any waterfall in the world, with a vertical drop of more than 50 m.
