Can anyone provide any information on this? I think it is a Rhodesia (Scott #63) in block form. The stamps are original gum with postmark shown. Is the postmark or date meaningful? Were they CTO's? As my WW catalogs are too old to use for pricing, can anyone provide a current value?

Thanks for the help.

Hi Wt1,

Your block is SACC 73 and Scott 63. I got given two blocks of 12 at the last stamp fair. Mine are postmarked Bulawayo S.Rhodesia and are also full gum.

The statement in the SACC is as follows :

"Most of the used arms issues bear remainder cancellations. Prices in this catalogue are for such copies"

So yes sounds like they are CTO. 2008 Scott 0.90 each and 2008 SACC is at R10.00 each.

Drew

Thanks for the information. Figured that they were CTO's (although most CTO's I have come with cleaner and more distinct cancels.) Nevertheless, it's good to have the updated info. on values. Interesting that my old 1983 WW catalog shows the stamp with a "used" price of $1.50, now it's worth only 90 cents.

When I got given the blocks I thought they were postally used for the same reason. It was LB who asked if they were CTO - I never bothered to check the gum. The date on mine is 8th March 11 (1911) This set of defins were issued between 1898 and 1908.
