Sculpture - Saliera

Saliera (Cellini Salt Cellar) is a part-enamelled gold table sculpture by Benvenuto Cellini (1500 - 1571). The sculpture, completed in 1543, depicts a male figure representing the sea and a female figure that represents the earth. A small vessel for salt is placed next to the male figure, and a temple-shaped box for pepper is placed next to the female figure.

Well, that was just supposed to be a joke, because there ARE really visitors from all over the world (of course no stamp collectors!) who think our two countries are one.

But what I meant between the lines - Kassel is a German town. So the Hercules Monument stamp should not be classified under the heading "Austria".

Maria Theresa (1717 - 1780) was an Austrian archduchess, and Holy Roman Empress of the Habsburg Dynasty from 1740 to 1780. She married Duke Francis Stephen of Lorraine in 1736 and had 5 sons and 11 daughters over the course of 20 years.
