Rohumpy, X842 is probably the most famous scarce Machin but there are others that are scarcer and more valuable such as some of the regionals for example. NI 17l type 2b or Scottish 31p type 2 which is very rare but these are even more specialised than phosphor bands. Try finding a 10p orange from the Christian Heritage book used |

Quote: KirkS...you really should be on the look out for is the half penny turquoise blue with the phosphor band vertical on the left. Thanks for the tip Humpy. I will check the ones I have and make a note for future reference. KirkS |

Machins by different printers... 1. Waddington (gone). 2. House Of Questa (gone). 3 Walsall Security Printers. 4. Harrison (gone). 5.De La Rue. 6. Enschede. |

Just noticed after 11+ years that the 4p is mislabelled that is also a Walsall stamp. Waddingtons have a Wk logo. |

Nope!
It is a Waddington and not Walsall stamp. Check your catalogue and you will know it cannot be a Walsall logo. |

I'm still here -- still nibbling away at Machins.
It was fun for me to see this thread resurface.

If those three stamps would have been in a vertical strip, you should have checked the phosphor screen. The 250-screen phosphor bars used for coil stamps are much more expensive than the ˝p with phosphor bar at left mentioned earlier. |

Allow me to toss this one in too. I have these covers still and can get my hands on them. |

There are examples of shade differences occurring in a single sheet. But there are printings with markedly different shades. |

Hello.
I just received 25 kilos of Machins (kiloware on paper) as I began (another) specialization…
I read in the Deegam handbook that there's a risk of phosphor wash when you soak Machins of paper. Did you see any of those washes during your soaking ?
I will not soak all those stamps, but for those I will put on album, I think that keeping them on paper is just not appealing.
Thanks for your opinion.
By the way, concerning album pages, I try to make them using AlbumEasy software, as I would like to include some Deegam reference numbers.
