The extreme Left is this a case of a missing colours?

The one on the left looks a lot like examples I have from the 1941 black and orange printing. If it is perf 14, it is from this printing.

The ink seems thinner on stamps from this printing. Wartime economy perhaps?

I don't know exactly how they were printed, perhaps someone more knowledgeable can chip in but I though they were only printed in two colours hence the term bi-colours.
My guess would be not a missing colour but a poor ink/roller transfer.
