I just pulled it out of an 18 lb box of 1c centennials I`m going
through. If I keep digging I might find a better one.

How about this one from Toronto...St. Joseph Street.

Nice one Alanl,

I have not seen St. Joseph Street before.

St. Josephs, Newfoundland
St. Joseph De Beauce, Quebec
St. Josephs Salmonier, Newfoundland

Are ther any others you know of?

Well that`s an interesting collection stamporator.
The only St. Joseph that I know of is located in Missouri.

Here`s a clear cancel from Drumbo, Ont.

Alanl: is that Canada Scott#468A? If it is it may be the first time it has been on here. I did a search and couldn't find it. I always figured if someone has Drumbo they should also have Embro.

@David-DJD : The Medicine Hat CPR Depot hammer is listed with a rarity factor of "C", meaning it was in use for 11-15 years (Using the bnaps RPO cancellations catalogue, their RF goes from "A", more than 25 years of use, to "G", less than 1 year of use). Yours is the state 1 of this hammer, with a ERD - LRD of 1918/03/04 - 1930/05/04

I was having a great time browsing through this topic and decided to give it a try.

Winnipeg, Canada, JUL 21 44

Edmonton, Alta. OC 15 43

The Fathers of Confederation cancelled at Unity ( ), Sask. DE 6 17

The scan doesn't do it justice because I can clearly make out Saanichton, BC, 3 XI 56 with my own eyes

Windsor, Ont. Jul 18 41

Toronto, Ont. S.O. 117, Aug 26 38

Brockville, Ont. Ju 10 98

Jonquière, PQ, Nov 26 34, my father's hometown

Toronto, Ont. Oc 16 33
The lower part of the cancel I can't make out or understand it's meaning. As far as I can guess, it's "REG. DIV." and then quite a few letters I can't discern

Montreal, PQ, Aug 9, 5:30 PM, 1921

Speaking of out of period cancels, here's a WWI War Tax stamp cancelled during the WWII
Winnipeg, Canada, Jan 27 42

Ottawa, Canada, Jul 2 06

And last, a two ring numeral from Kingston, Upper Canada (#18)

Alanl: by way of explanation re Drumbo: southwestern Ontario has a plethora of small towns, villages, hamlets and ghost places with names that ring of Scotland, Ireland, England and German ancestry. Within a few miles of each other are three place names, Rotho, Embro and Drumbo, which, to me, are somewhat out of character, hence my comment.

While I am at it the specific area encompassed by these communities were important in the glacial history of this part of the province with respect to the movement of glaciers into the area and their recession from it through melting. The landforms left behind are impressive.

More importantly, I might add, it was 139 years ago almost to the day, according to The Woodstock Sentinel of October 24, 1873, that:

Quote:
considerable and much needed repairs (were) effected on the Drumbo Station House G.T.R. The whole has been replastered and repainted, and the ladies' waiting room, hitherto a filthy lumber closet, is now like what the name imports and requires. A new substantial platform is also being laid down, and altogether the place wears a much more tidy and comfortable appearance.

Thanks cynical for the info.
The Semiahmoo Indian Reserve is located between the US border
and the city of White Rock. I guess this post office was located
nearby. Today this area is on the southern edge of Metro Vancouver.

Backroads, on the post of 8/16/2011 on the first page of this thread, Is the 10 cent green stamp shosing the mountain view, is that Mount Edith Cabell? I have always been interested in the account of Edith Cabell in WWI and like the stamp showing the mountain named in her remembrance.

The reason I am asking is to see if you might have an extra copy of the stamp you might be willing to sell (by Paypal or cash, US $). Just on the off chance.
