Here is a clear SON (SOTN) cancel from Schumacher Ontario, that, if I'm not mistaken, became part of the Municipality of Timmins a few decades ago. It was the home of a number of NHL hockey greats (e.g., Frank Mahovlich, Peter Mahovlich) and I think award-winning architect Frank Gehry may have been born there or spent his early years there. Here is a postcard I won just about two weeks ago. It is cancelled from Rosseau, Ontario on December 31, 1915. The Postmaster / clerk/ employee at the time deemed it necessary to apply both a CDS cancel as well as a "Roller" cancellation. Chimo Bujutsu |

Bujutsu, nice cancels - very clear. Didn't know about this thread, nice to see it revived. Hope to see more cancels. Here are a couple of mine to keep things going. I love the artistic layout of this one - Carrol, Man. Railway cancel |

I like that RPO cancellation. One of my areas are the RPO cancellations of Canada.

Bujustsu, We should chat. I have been building a large RPO cancel collection. I have some nice items and quite a few duplicates. Just e-mail me if you wish to consider comparing notes/trades. |

I do have some duplicate RPO cancellations 3Dadeo. Some are on piece, and, others on cover.
I am in the process of getting them organized. I have a show to go to this coming weekend and after that, will sort out some.

Sounds good Bujutsu. I have my own way of organizing them and would like to compare with how you do it. |

Most Canadian cancels don't obliterate the stamp, like US cancellations used to.

Bujutsu: a great first day cover if I'm not mistaken for those King George VI issues (November 15, 1949)! The back transit marks including the Toronto-London-Windsor rpo read like a road map given the circuitous route the letter took. I believe the two communities of Northwood and Cairo are only about 10 miles apart. I believe that both the Northwood and Cairo Post Offices closed (dpo) in the 1960's but that the Bothwell Post Office is still open. Will pass those two images along to a friend of mine who grew up in the area. Thanks for posting that. |
