The only US stamp that I know of that depicts a pipe smoker with a pipe is the William Faulkner stamp.
I understand that the original image from which the Robert Johnson stamp was made showed Johnson with a cigarette in his mouth, but when the image was adapted for the stamp, the cigarette disappeared. |

The Brazilian Expeditionary Force (BEF) was a force of about 25,700 men and women organized and sent to fight alongside the Allied forces in the Mediterranean Theater of World War II. Here is an image of a stamp depicting the shoulder sleeve insignia of the BEF, printed by lithogravure, and issued by Brazil on July 18, 1945 to honor the BEF, Scott No. 636. Historical note: When Brazil entered the war in 1942, this unusual insignia was allegedly adopted by the BEF because previously it had been a common saying in Brazil that "a snake was more likely to smoke than Brazil was to enter the war!" - nethryk  |
