I 'helped' my grandfather collect stamps when I was a child. After he passed at 14, I took possession of his collection, and started collecting 'sort of'. Shortly after it was stolen from me, and I abandoned the hobby. Now, I'm 41, and active again (with a fierce pa$$ion). Every day I look at my collection, and the feeling of 'what I could have had' wanes, and 'what I'm doing about' it grows stronger.[d-orange]

I have my original which is now 53 years old. It's still in excellent condition even after all those years. I'm now 68 years old.

I'm 40 so I included myself in the "under 40" category.

I am 46 years old but have collected off and on since I was 11 years old so that makes me a lifetime collector.

I was surprised to see 35% under 40 years old. I thought it would be much less.

I would guess that ONLINE stamp collectors are younger than average. How many seventy year olds are really computer savvy. And comfortable with posting online. Some, but not the majority!

51 here.

Started collecting 45 years ago... unlike many, I never "stopped" collecting, for whatever reasons... I guess that makes me a "lifetime" collector.

I'm 52. Started collecting at 12, and never actually left it. So, perhaps, I can considere mysellf "a lifetime collector"; although there have been periods of variable collecting activity, and collecting focus, sometimes chaged.
