I just picked up a old album and received today from ebay. I came across a Scott # 165 in it. I looked at ebay to see what the going rate is which seems to have a average of $100 and up for lightly canceled. The stamp I have is lightly hinged. I was hoping if anyone happens to know what the value is for this stamp mint hinged, Hopefully this is not a issue of the used worth more I would post some scans but don't have a scanner at the moment, This albums full of interesting stamps quite a few semi valuable but its a school boys album from the turn of the century. Who ever this kid was ruined many a good stamp cutting the stamps of the paper and trimmed off the perfs here and there, lol always a gamble with a old album but many hours checking out the stamps

The 2011 Scott catalog value for a mint hinged stamp is 85c.

The used stamp is italicized at $300. That is the price for a genuine postally used stamp and there is a delineated footnote that warns about the pricing. CTO/fake/post-cancelled stamps are plentiful. The vast majority of so-called used #165 in hosted online auctions are not genuine postally used. Never ever buy a used copy unless it has a certificate or unless you feel comfortable enough to determine a genuine postally used stamp from a CTO/fake/post-cancelled.
