Reading through the forum I see that this is a frequently discussed topic. I'm looking for affordable 3-ring binders with slipcases for Vario sheets and the like. Finding affordable binders is no problem at all. Staples has nice binders for less that $10. It's finding reasonable binders with slipcases that is an issue. The Lighthouse binders are great but expensive. Also, I don't care a bit about looks -- just function -- and prefer a slipcase to keep dust under control. It seems like this is something I should be able to pick up for about $15. Any thoughts?

Not quite $15, but good quality and FAST shipping.

I did a review of the Bindertek binders here:

https://goscf.com/t/17401&SearchTerms=bindertek

A 2" binder is $11.50 and the slip case is $10.00. So you're at $21.00 plus shipping. But it's a real solid binder.

apastuszak, Thanks for the info on the bindertek binders. I read your posts a few days ago and, no doubt, they appear to be excellent.

KirkS, I saw that guy's ebay store and it's good to know that folks on this board have been happy with him.

Seeing I'm looking for three binders anyway, peraps Mit-63's offerings on ebay will work for me. With the recent strength of the dollar vs euro, maybe the price of the lighthouse products will come down a bit. Here's to hoping anyway!

I buy from Amos. It's part of Linn's Stamp News. Under $15. 3 ring padded binder with slipcase.
They are very good for the money. I have 3 and getting ready to buy some more.

Any chance you can provide a link or some pictures to the binder from Amos?

I did a review of the Mystic Heirloom stamp album on my never updated blog. Don Sundman (the president of Mystic) said they're hoping to offer much improved binders in November 2011. November 2011 is only a few weeks away. Might be worth waiting to see what they are going to offer.

Just went and looked, and it looks like they went up in price since last time I purchased them. $21.99 and if you subscribe to Linn's 17.99. Still worth it. Item # SSBSBL. Sometimes in Linn's they are on sale. I paid $12.99 each last year.

If you have the patience, keep an eye out on ebay for deals like this:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/40024867767....m1497.l2649

I search using the following criteria:

1) go to the ebay stamps front page http://stamps.shop.ebay.com/

2) type "binder" in the search pane.

3) click on the "Auctions only" tab

Review, then repeat with the word "stockbook".

You should be able to find some amazing deals very quickly ...

Yes, I should watch ebay for used binders.

moldman, that Amos binder/slipcase looks nice. Do you know if the 3 rings are mounted to the spine or to the back of the binder?

The cover of the mini pamphlet/catalog Mystic sent me with my supplements show a really nice binder with slipcase for $34.95 each. Maybe that's the one that's coming in November? I'll scan the page and post it when I get home tonight.

Only downside is I think it said "American Heirloom" on the spine. But since I have that album and would be using for that album, it seems like a pretty nice deel to me. Said it will hold 125 pages full of stamps and mounts so I guess I'd need about 7 or 8 of them

xquercus, I guess it's mounted to the spine. I put hagners and homemade album pages in mine.
I have some Seven Seas hingless albums and the 3 rings are mounted to the binder, but these are just as good as far as I'm concerned. I will keep an eye on Linn's and buy more when they come on sale again. I've seen nothing, for the price, that can beat them. I purchased one for a very good price on ebay and it turned out to have one of the rings bent, now the pages get hung up every time I turn them. Of course seller never mentioned that. Try one from Amos, I think you will like it.

This looks like a great one.

i purchased a lighthouse 3 ring binder some months ago which had like 35 new Lighthouse double sided stock pages: 10 pages with 8 rows, 10 pages with 7 rows and 15 pages with 6 row.
..with matching dust case all for $30

what do you think.. was it a good deal ? I reckon so.
