There is a club in Shrub Oak, and I hear it ROCKS.

Made my first visit to the NPM yesterday and had a great time. The Gross Collection Gallery and Stamp Salon Room are pretty amazing. The downstairs with the generic exhibits were OK, but as a stamp guy I could have spent a few more hours upstairs looking through the sliding cases. I didn't even get a chance to view the Imperial Russia collection they had on a rotating exhibit as there was a woman there who looked to be doing some personal research with her stockbook filled with stamps. Learned a lot of different things in terms of collecting as well as history in general. Highlight for me was the cover from the Japanese War Dept. to the Wright Brothers. |

I also live "about 90 mins/$8 train ride away" but north in Maryland. I've visited NPM several times over the years. Lots of fun and quite interesting. Is it just me or did they significantly reduce the size of the gift shop after their last remodel?

Not sure about the prior size of the gift shop, but it was tiny! Still picked up a few things. One of those WW bag of stamps and a framed Very Hungry Caterpillar stamp for my son's room. |
