Hi everyone

So I found these....

Im pretty sure they're from Russia, (Hammer and sickle and star...)
However, I'm not able to find them in Scott's.

Anyone know what these are? and if they're in Scotts, where?

Thanks

Armenia early 1920s. Beautiful stamps I think. I've got a couple of others from these sets in my "Just because they're cool" collection.

edit- Though, now having said that, and looking again, I can't find the middle two (first and second row - orange and black respectively) in the catalogue.
I would need a closer scan of those two to determine where they are from.

Belay that. Those two are from Azerbaijan. Same period.

More specifically
top row: Armenia 1921 SC#294, Azerbaijan 1922 SC# 21, Armenia 1921 SC#286
second row: Armenia 1922 SC#309, Azerbaijan 1922 SC#15, Armenia 1921 SC#284
third row: Armenia 1922 SC#306, Armenia 1921 SC#283, Armenia 1921 SC#292

At this point in time, both were Soviet Socialist Republics, hence the hammers and sickles.

I'd double check those numbers if I were you. I haven't had my third cup of coffee yet.

You are the man!

Looks like I should have paid more attention in world history....
Guess I'll learn now.

I have maybe 200 Soviet area stamps to go through, very attractive indeed.

On to cup # 3 for me as well......

Thanks!

OK, one more question...

I have Armenia 1922 #300-309 (missing 1). As noted in Scott's (V.1 p.531)
"No's 300 - 309 were not issued without surcharge"
What exactly does that mean? None of the stamps have surcharges (looking at the next set in the book, I wish they did!)

If they are not issued, how can I have them?.

I see... I'm still new.

Is this the reason many of the used values in the catalog are higher than the unused values?
