hi again to everyone, this is a 1945 malaysia kgv bma 50c stamp,i have just realized that both trees look slightly difference(slanding leaf, longer leaf touching inner oval flame line, extra leaf links to the flame) and there is an extra dot(earing) beside the ear of the king head compare with a normal stamp on the right, hope you can difference shade them.i have seen and compared more than 20 of this stamp and they look normal,i mean the trees.have you ever seen a variety like this before?this is my first time to be honest.is this consider a variety on the trees?its hard to find a variety or error on any stamp printed by british and I always love them due to the printing quality and of course, their inventor, have to respect them.

Miko:

There are two dies used for the lower values of this set, but there was only one die used for the 50˘ stamp. What you are seeing on the left stamp is a slight misalignment of the two colours (this is fairly common on this issue) and a "flaking" of the ink off the stamp.

This stamp is printed on chalky and sub-chalky paper; consequently, there are times where the ink starts to flake off the stamp. The chalk paper does this, and was used as a deterrent to "washing" stamps of their cancels for re-use.

Sorry, you do not have anything special there.

Feel free to ask me any more qiestions about KGVI-reign stamps of the Commonwealth.

David
