Hi guys

Look at the Scott # 649 stamp I have....The bottom picture is a normal stamp as to compared to mine...The one on the left is normal, but look at the stamp on the right...Notice the red box design is definitely higher than a normal one...!!

Sorry about the crappy scans

It was probably just a 2-color printing process and the alignment is just a bit off. I checked my copy of that stamp, too, which also shows the red square a bit raised than what a "normal" copy would be:

You can "flyspeck" these stamps and often find minor "freaks" but unless they having missing colors or major shifts in printing, there is typically no premium value.

(In fact, if you take my scan, you'll notice a white mark in the top of the "5" of "15" or in the "C" of "Canada" that some may consider to be small printing anomalies, but hardly worth noting, as most collectors wouldn't categorize it as an EFO.)

All multi-coloured stamps will have minor (or major) colour shift varieties. Not until the shifts are "major" is there an apparent change in value. Each collector might have different degree of what is considered "major".

Check out page 27 of the Unitrade catalogue for illustrations (and price ranges) for some "extreme" colour shifts. Also noted on that page is why they (Unitrade) do not list these kinds of varieties.

Wert, to further illustrate studystamps' point about colour shifts,
look at these three US Sc 702 all on the same envelope.

The red cross is all over the place, except where it's supposed to be.

Value ? Zilch.

lithograving...Did not know that a lot of these colour shifts are of no importance...Would it be important say, if the cross was half way off the stamp...???

Better yet, if there were no cross at all it would be worth $40K
