An interesting comic book. Never saw it before. But a quick web search provides this Wiki link to the publisher, who was only in business a mere 5 years.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Youthful_(publisher)

The "Thrilling Adventures in Stamps Comics" (according to Wiki) was the ONLY issue printed with that title and in 1953. The predecessor was "Stamp Comics" for which 7 issues were printed in 1951-52. Given that limited run, the publication probably met with very little interest in the targeted market.

There is a member in my club with 4 or 5 of the first series ... all different. He has had them with him at our "Stamp Collectors Corner" event for months. I think he wanted $10 to $20 ea, but can't provide any more information at this time. I'll try to remember to ask him about them this next week.

Downloaded this 4-page sample from an internet web site blog. Needs to be blown up to 200% to read it. The Story of the Pony Express:

There was another issue on the Hindenburg ... and yet another issue on Iwo Jima, so I understand.

I can't judge thesize well enough to try and figure out if you were supposed to hinge stamps into the comic or stamps were just presented as images. What a great post thanks!

Rileysan,
I'd be interested to know if your club member still has some of these.

As I don't want this recent post to get lost, I'm providing the link here as provided to us by "vacuum man".

It seems we can now peruse the content of many of the "Stamp Comics" a/k/a "Thrilling Adventures in Stamps" comic books at this link:

That is soooo cool! Just goes to show how popular the hobby was back in the '50s.

What a fantastic link!

I wonder if something like this, in an electronic form, would entice the youth of today to be interested in this great hobby???
