Under a separate thread, philb is having an auction for some unique 1931 Christmas Seals emblazoned with the word "LOUISIANA" on them.
So as not to take away from his auction, I decided to post this under the Cinderella topic as I found the background history behind these Louisiana Seals rather fascinating.
First, here are the seals that philb is auctioning:

When I looked up the story behind them, I came up with this summary from a 1925 newspaper article:

Apparently, the Louisiana Seals were promoted by a splinter group established in 1924 as the "[Louisiana] Tuberculosis and Public Health Association", which later disbanded in 1955.
Here's a more recent (2010) news article on the subject:

http://media.nola.com/living_impact...eal-1925.pdfWhat is unclear to me is whether or not the competitive Louisiana Christmas Seals were available for every year from 1925-1955 or just a portion thereof. Does anyone know for sure?
I find this a very interesting subject given that we are (or soon will) be entering the Christmas Seal Season.
