Happy Birthday to William Frederick "Buffalo Bill" Cody (1846-1917), an American scout, bison hunter, and showman. Here is an image of a stamp featuring a portrait of Buffalo Bill Cody, designed by Jack Rosenthal, engraved by Joseph S. Creamer, Jr. (vignette) and Michael J. Ryan (lettering), and issued by the USA on June 6, 1988 as a stamp in the "Great Americans" series, Scott No. 2177, plus a publicity photo of Cody, and a link to a YouTube video entitled "BUFFALO BILL'S WILDWEST SHOW" showcasing a number of cowboy skills.

Here is an image of a stamp depicting gauchos breaking a horse, engraved and printed by Bradbury, Wilkinson & Co., Ltd, and issued by Uruguay on June 16, 1930 as one of a set of sixteen stamps commemorating the first centenary of independence, Scott No. 395.

Here is an image of a stamp depicting a mounted gaucho, some cattle, the sun, and a cactus, designed by Italian-Brazilian illustrator Gian Calvi (1938- ), printed by lithography, and issued by Brazil on October 23, 1978 to commemorate the 70th birthday of Brazilian novelist João Guimarães Rosa (1908-1967), whose best-known work is the novel Grande Sertão: Veredas (translated as "The Devil to Pay in the Backlands"), Scott No. 1588.

Here is an image of a stamp depicting a mounted gaucho herding cattle, printed by lithography, and issued by Uruguay on April 29, 1949 as one of a set of two stamps publicizing the 4th Americas Regional Conference of Labor, Scott No. 580.

Here is an image of a stamp designed after a detail from a painting depicting a mounted vaquero ("cowboy") and a herd of cattle, entitled El encierro ("The Round-up," 1914), by Spanish artist Joaquín Sorolla y Bastida (1863-1923). printed by photogravure, and issued by Spain on March 24, 1964 as one of a set of ten stamps commemorating Sorolla, Scott No. 1220, plus an image of the relevant detail from the original work of art.

Here are images of the three stamps (one of which is airmail) in a set commemorating Caledonian cattle breeding, designed and engraved (except as noted) by French artist Claude Durrens (1921-2003), and issued for use in New Caledonia & Dependencies on May 10, 1969, Scott Nos. 372, 373 & C64.
