Quote: But those two bullfighting stamps are what I would call REALLY stretching! Well the main difference is that the Spanish Bulls are being killed soon for pleasure/sport/tradition whereas the cows(steers?) in Russell's painting are going to be killed later for food & hides. In both cases someone has to look after them & herd them in. Isn't that what cowboys do/did ? |

lithograving - I think there is a HUGE difference: Bullfighters most definitely DO NOT "look after" or "herd" cattle, and cowboys most definitely DO NOT kill cattle for sport. Like I said, it's a stretch. - nethryk |

Quote: Wouldn't they be 'bullboys'? I don't know why they called them cowboys anyway. The best steaks come from steers. Should have called them steerboys. Steering the the cows, bulls & steers. |

Good point lith. The etymology is all wrong. 'Cowboys' would refer to 'girlieboys', wouldn't it? But that's a tangent better left alone. |

Nice block spanishmoss.
But did these boys really herd the cows ?
Which makes me wonder what is the difference between a cowboy and a cowherd. |

Tomiseksj hello, we know that every collector their spouse, brothers, sisters and children ordered the 'error' sheet - min of 70,000 went out.
How many bothered to buy the corrected sheet, any comparable USPS issue numbers available ?. |

finches - According to Scott's, 150,000 panes of the recalled Legends of the West, USA Scott No. 2870, were made available through the drawing. Sadly, I only own one of the corrected panes, USA Scott No. 2869, of which 19,282,800 were issued. - nethryk |

Lucky Luke: Being a fan of Spaghetti Westerns, I bought a DVD a few weeks ago at a car boot sale of the very same Lucky Luke What a very strange cowboy he is...... I think I wasted my $1 |

Yep, that's Lucky Luke again skipping, on a horse, on a ball, on a tightrope. quite a mean skill.
