Just came across this lovely portrait of Princess Elizabeth on a Maltese stamp of 1950, commemorating her visit to the island. Nice SON cancel too. This gave me an idea. How about a thread, in honour of her 60th jubilee, showing your favourite royal visit stamps. Don't have to limit it to just Queen Liz, but the more of her the merrier.

This one is more about the cancel than the stamp. It was used when the Queen came to visit Perth for the opening of CHOGM. Steve |

Ok, thought there'd be more response to this, so I'll prime the motor here a little. Some Canadian visits. 1951 Princess Elizabeth and Philip the Duke of Edinburgh 1957 Elizabeth, now Queen, and Phil, on her first visit a reigning monarch. 1959 Queen Elizabeth visits Canada to open the St. Lawrence Seaway. Interestingly, this stamp is dated 1957 (lower left corner). Obviously they plan these things well in advance. I have others, but let's see what you all have got. |

Nice one's Daniel. Classic Canadian stamps. Since today (June 2) marks the anniversary of her Coronation, let's give this thread another push. Here are some 1947 Royal Visit stamps from Southern Rhodesia. A family visit ("Stop fighting you too! Don't make me come back there!!), they picture both King George V and the Missus, as well as the not so little any more Princesses. Members of the Royal Family have been traveling the world while Liz and Phil stay close to home. So again, any other royal visit stamps out there? |

Very nice cover, mhc99. Excellent commemorative cancel as well. The stamps also complete Timbres667's Royal visit collection, which I just noticed has the 3c 1937 Coronation stamp, not the visit stamp (sorry Daniel). |

Here is an image of a stamp featuring a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II and a depiction of a White Tropic Bird (Phaeton flavirostris), engraved and printed by Bradbury, Wilkinson & Co., and issued for use in Bermuda on November 9, 1953 to commemorate the young queen's visit to the island colony, Scott No. 163, SG No. 143. The following two Exhibition Labels were produced for the visit of King George V to the London International Stamp Exhibition in 1923. One sheet of Royal Purple and one of Gold were printed to present to His Majesty on May 18th 1923. Later, copies of both were occasionally found on the open market. The purple copy shown below is previously unrecorded as it's on gummed paper. Sad note to end. The Exhibition was held at the Royal Horticultural Halls in London where Philatelic Exhibitions had been held previously, the first in 1906. Since those days, the Halls have been a popular venue for Stamp exhibitions and on a personal note, it is my very favourite. Earlier this year, the Halls were sold and there will no longer be any Philatelic Exhibitions there. The last was Philatex in April and a 106 year-old connection with stamps has come to an end. Londonbus1...long live the King ! [and the Halls!] A venue fit for a King |

While I don't collect the Royal Visit issues thanks for sharing! I have always been interested by the 1939 Royal Visit but was really interested to see the machine cancel from Australia. Didn't know those were out there. |

Nice Royal Visit stamps! Are the ones from Canada with King George VI common? |
