I had never noticed this before until I began looking at a number of these stamps in detail, but the Chinese "Junk" stamps of 1913-1923 show an interesting detail in the distant background...a steam train crossing a bridge! Just in case some of you railroad topical collectors had missed this! |

Never mind my last post. I should have checked further back in this thread. There are already some pictures posted of the Chinese stamps. |

The first railway built in Peru was a short line (14 km) from Callao to Lima, which was opened to traffic in 1851. Here is an image of an airmail stamp depicting the locomotive "La Callao" and tender, printed by photogravure (Waterlow & Sons, Ltd.), and issued by Peru on August 27, 1936 as one of a set of twelve stamps commemorating the centenary of Callao province, Scott No. C13. Note: Despite the claim inscribed on this stamp, the Callao to Lima line was not the first railway in South America, as a line had been opened in British Guyana in 1848. - nethryk |

And some more... My Mom found this at her thrift store and, knowing I love trains, saved it for me. She had no idea I love stamps too! Thanks, Mom! This is the best image I could find on the internet. I did not want to un-frame mine. |

This one needs some setup: I am a fan of silent comedian Buster Keaton. Later in his life, he was in a Canadian film called "The Railrodder". In it, Buster travels across Canada on a speeder. SO, when I saw that Canada had a new STAMP with both Buster AND the speeder, I HAD to have it! |
