Quote:
What is stamp ephemera, please?

Briefly stated (excerpted from Wiki):

Quote:
Ephemera are transitory written and printed matter not intended to be retained or preserved. The word derives from the Greek, meaning things lasting no more than a day. Some collectible ephemera are advertising trade cards, airsickness bags, bookmarks, catalogues, greeting cards, letters, pamphlets, postcards, posters, prospectuses, stock certificates, tickets and zines.

In other words, based on my previous reference, it is stamp-related and post office-related papers, documents, cards, receipts, labels, advertising, etc., that are not stamps themselves, but directly or indirectly relates to that collecting discipline.

You are missing the 2d (2 globes) issue from your Jamaica set.
Here is a list of all the countries/colonies involved in this omnibus issue, although I notice that Southern Rhodesia is is not listed. Only 2 of the 4 stamps were issued for Southern Rhodesia.

Here are images of the three engraved stamps in a set depicting the main motif of the UPU Monument in Bern, Switzerland, and issued by Senegal on June 14, 1963 to commemorate the 2nd anniversary of the country's admission to the UPU, Scott Nos. 218-220. The design of these stamps is credited to Pierre-Louis Dekeyser (1914-1984), a zoologist and a director of the African Institute of Basic Research (IFAN) in Dakar, who was also somewhat of an artist. The engraver is credited neither on the stamp nor in my SG catalogue; it appears to me to possibly be the work of Albert Decaris, who engraved several other stamps for Senegal in the early 1960s.

The UPU symbol is derived from the UPU Monument unveiled in Berne, Switzerland in 1909.The monument consists of a central image in which five women, representing the five continents, are passing letters around the world.

This is a stamp issued by the Philippines in 1949 to commemorate the UPU's 75th anniversary:

I missed page 2 when I had posted my reply. I have since noted that the photo of the monument had already been posted. Sorry.
