My local dealer got in some world collections and allowed me to cherry-pick. I picked up a bunch of stuff to fill in holes in my Iceland collection.
Some of the items have revenue cancels and were priced as such; a relatively inexpensive way to fill in some tough spots. My assumption is that the last set is favor-canceled and was bought under that assumption. Still, a moderately tough set.
As it turns out, Iceland is one of the few cases where there are a few stamps that are actually worth more with the revenue cancel than with a postal cancel!! Not many of them, but I recall almost half a dozen cases where the revenue box cancel "TOLLUR" has a higher catalog value.
Nice selection. I especially like the art deco 1939 New York World Fair issues. It's an interesting transition of style coming from the art nouveau influenced 1930 stamps directly above them.
revenuecollector I'm a Iceland collector too and you got me salivate with the 1930 set I dream of. It worth close to $400 US in Scott! Congratulation with your purchase. Really a nice lot! Daniel
