Would 1-1/2 pence been suffecient for lettermail from canada to england in 1857-60 and what would 7 1/2 pence paid for. Googled several options but I'm sure someone here has the knowledge.

A site on Nova Scotia stamps with 1851-57 being one period of stamp production and ordering from England.

7-1/2 pence would have been the rate from Nova Scotia to England in 1857.

Jan 1, 1860 Nova Scotia switched to decimal currency.
