The Umhlanga, or Reed Dance ceremony, is an annual Swazi tradition held in August or September. Thousands of unmarried and childless Swazi girls and women travel from their villages to participate in the eight-day event, held in Ludzidzini Royal Village. Anna Pavlova (1881-1931) was a world-renowned Russian ballerina. Sergei Pavlovich Diaghilev (1872-1929) was a Russian art critic, patron, ballet impresario and founder of the Ballets Russes.
