Hello all,

I have little, to no idea about Canada stamps as I do not collect them. But I found this one among my books of FDCs, etc. and I wanted to get a little more information on this type. I looked in Scott's but did not see this one unless I overlooked it. Any help would be appreciated.

I find the "Good for Two Days Only" quite appealing.

Thanks.

That's an embossed cheque stamp. Issued in numerous variations between 1915 and 1953.

Since it's a revenue stamp, it won't be in Scotts. Van Dam should list it.
Here are some available on his web site.

Hi Sirruspoe

As stated by JamesW earlier, they were used from 1915 - 1953.

They are listed in the Van Dam catalogue. The one yu have scanned is the first type issued and has a CV of 50 cents. However, had the check been complete, in whole, the CV would have been $2.50

The "Good For Two Days" is a reference to the date of the check (cheque) only, not the embossed section.

Hope this helps.

Thank you both. Headed over to the link later. I have so much to learn regarding the US and German stamps if you add in the 1000's of WW items it would take me a lifetime and I still do not think I would know anything. You all are so helpful. Hopefully will be doing some trading or auctioning one of these days here so I will quit spending time on things I supposedly do not collect. :)
