I received about a thousand used 6 cents orange of the Centennial serie on paper! I will have to soak them in water and sort them. There are only 2 kind of perf : 10x10 and 12 1/2x12, so far so good. The problem is the different degrees of fluorescent that are close one to the other : NF, DF, LF

I use a MERINGUE The Foiler UV lamp conterfeit money detector. I can throw 10 stamps at the time which is not the case with a Raytech UV lamp (long/ short wave) only 1 stamp at the time. Is there a better UV lamp?

I was told a long wave UV lamp is best for canadian stamp.
Is the MERINGUE a short or long wave UV lamp?

I can use the straight edge as a reference for some of them but are there some other little tips to facilitate this "mission"?
Any help would be appreciate... yes, there are used, fluo will be altered...

Wow, that's a big job, and hard with the soaked fluorescence.

These stamps could also have the Winnipeg 2 bar phosphorescence 459p which really requires a short wave lamp to see the best. A long wave will work but you meed to be in the dark. Scary. Oh, the Phosphor transfers to other stamps also.

I just have a battery operated hand haled long wave lamp and lay the stamps out on the table in groups and then can see the differences from stamp to stamp.

Any way you do it, it sounds like a long job.

Euh! I know it's a hell of a contract Puzzler!

You are right about the phospho transfert. I have éliminated many so far that were altered.
I have found a couple of varieties and will use them to trade when I'll reach my 50 posts

Checking them for printing varieties, not yet. This past year
I have been sorting through thousands of off paper. I check
them for Winnipeg tag and centred stamps with circle cancels.
I also check for known varieties and tag shifts. The next step
is to form a collection. This is going to be a long term project!

The lamp is called...Ultra-violet Tester-Lamp....I bought
it at a Vancouver stamp shop 20 years ago...cost me 24 dollars.
It`s a short wave lamp.
It dosen`t always show the tag bars with the lamp over the stamps.
You hold it over a layout of stamps and move the lamp away and
watch for a glow.
I`m going through all these stamps looking for the best for a
collection. And for that I want a stamp that is centred with
a circle cancel in the corner.
Have fun....Alan.

While you are sorting through your 6 cent orange stamps
here is a variety to look for. The doubling of the C.
It`s only found on the top right stamp. Perf 10.
