It's actually a "9" for Plate 9.
SG (Stanley Gibbons) catalog number 45
From the issue of 1858 (when the first of the plates with the profile from die 2 and with letters in the four corners and perforated 14). Plate 9 actually went to press on March 14, 1861.
That what you're looking for?
Chip

As nigelc said... it is an Edinburgh postmark. I can also add that it is an "outlying villages" postmark...(posted in the 'burbs )
I'd suggest that probably the postmark is of greater interest/value than the stamp.

To be worth anything the stamp should have all perforations intact (yours has torn perfs), be well centered (your stamp is poorly centered and you cannot see the top corner letters or the POSTAGE properly). The plate is a more common plate so no added value there.

On the plus side it has a reasonable postmark but unfortunately not on a cover.
