These are some of the larger blocks that I am undecided on whether to break apart or not.

I would say split them and give me one of each? No? Worth a try! :-)

Ha... a good idea if you do split them, but again I would not as mentioned in the other thread.

These are really nice blocks. Please keep together. It is easy to separate, impossible to recomvine. Also, you would be destroying some really nice cancellations.

Very nice. keep together. For these, they would be worth more.

If you are only collecting singles then sell these to raise money for what you want.

I'm going the opposite direction here. Since they aren't plate blocks, I'd break them up as they are probably more valuable as singles and wouldn't the block of 4 price out as 1 Stamp x 4 ? They are certainly not rare and not the largest left in existence so I can't see why. Does unitrade list a premium for a non-plate block of 4 ?

The appraiser at my local stamp store tends to agree with stallzer. Aside from the 1c diamond jubilee with the corner margin and the 1$ George V admiral with upside-down registered mail cancel, they are all worth the same as single stamps as in the block. The 1/2c and 2c leaf issue Victorias are actually worth more as singles, as there is a high demand for well centred singles of that issue.

I won't break any of them up though unless I can't find anything better for my album.

I suppose if it was my decision to break them apart, I would first see if I could trade for 4 singles - that preserves the block AND I would have the singles.

I agree with your local Stamp store. I'd keep the block with the selvage together and the Registered Mail block together. The other postmarks I'm 50-50 on as I don't know the value. If they are minimal value then I'd keep them together, if they can be sold as individuals then I'd break them up. I'd split the Queens up as your local guy is spot on that a well centered piece is in demand. The bottom line is Dealers will almost always break up blocks that are not plate blocks and even then they will break them down to singles with one being a plate single, and collectors will usually under no circumstances break up any kind of block. So, are you keeping them all or selling some ?
