Can I cheat a little and sneak in an old Coin Company advert cover?

This one is a beauty from 1935.

Nice cover Chimo, except you placed it in "Canadian Stamps and Covers" and it sure looks like a US company with US Postage.

I think you can be forgiven, Larry. It's a lovely cover. And it was sent to a Canadian address, with, if I'm not mistaken, a rubber stamp from the National Revenue Postal Branch. That's got to account for something.

Nice cover! Interesting example of 1.5 cent commercial rate.

True t360

I got this cover in a small collection I traded for some years ago and, to be honest, I had never thought of the 1 1/2 cents commercal rate. I guess I was more interested in the type of cover. However, since you pointed this out, the cover is all that much more interesting to me.

Being at a commercial rate, is this why there are 'dumb / nude' cancellations on the cover?? Just wondering. I am thinking that the cancels here are used in the same way they would be for 'bulk' mail??

Yes, this cover likely contained a price list or advertising circular and cancels without dates were often applied to mailed circulars.

Thanks for that t360

Some years ago, I was told that this type of cancellation was an embarrassment of the post office but later heard this was not true and that it was commonplace for mail such as this cover here.
