I know pic is poor but what are your opinions? Unitrade says only 100 imperf pairs so I put that out of my head. There is a blue proof 7P but this looks to have a cancel. Of course forgery is an option but why forge an imperf that is unlikely to be seen anyway. I don't have this in hand yet and only paid a few bucks - If it was a proof it should be on heavy almost card stock type paper or is this early enough to be on more regular paper. Will update when arrives.

Despite the poor picture, I'd be inclined to lean toward forgery. The drawing of Cartier's face seems a little crude and even the white lettering looks a little heavy. It'll be interesting to see a good scan once you get this little guy in hand.

Hi Nitro

As soon as my eye caught your image, I thought of 'fake', especially too with the nice neat cancellations and almost jumbo margins.

What also triggered my suspicions was the colour as well. This is not a true colour and the quality of this fake really is poor considering this. I have oftened heard that if it looks too good to be true, it isn't. I guess this is one of those items.

Here are some examples of Scott 17, both standard issues and Proof/Specimens.

All these examples show a line in the white outer oval between the 'O' and 'S' of Postage. Regardless of the variety of the issue, they all have it!

Nitro, that is one of the worst fakes I have ever seen. It is not a proof, specimen, essay, or even digital copy. It is a very poor fake. Not probably, not possibly, it is definitively a fake.

I am no expert at fakes, but look at the comparison.

Good stamp on left, and your stamp on right.

1 - Look at the hat...High point of hats are different.
2 - The "C" in Canada are different.
3 - One hand touches frame and the other does not.

Just my opinion.

I myself own a #19 imperf that might qualify as a 19b but not sure if margins as quite large enough to pass certification...Imperf certification are always hard to get for single.

I wouldn't laugh, toranaga. I've got a bit of a soft spot for fakes. They have a history all their own.

I have several 19's but didn't even take a second look - For a few bucks as a fake its all good. Seller was not claiming it to be anything it isn't nor was I expecting but thought it was intereting none the less.
