I'm looking at this auction, this morning, but am suspicious as the cancellations are neat and tidy (Read: CTO) and the auction price is VERY low (are buyers avoiding this auction?). Is anyone out there willing to give input on this lot? Are these forgeries or should I bid?

Scott catalogue # 593A - 599.

Thank you!

Brian

I suspect the cancels are fake. For one, they're far too uniform across the set. Also, the dates are tough to make out, but those you can see all appear to be 25 Sep 1948. If I'm reading Michel correctly, these issues were only valid through 19 Sep 1948.

Hi

I would say that the cancellations are either faked or are CTO in origin.

This set legitimately used would vary with the cancellation and these all seem to be too 'uniform' in nature.

I have had dealings with Karlmarq in the past and have found him to be quite reputable and fair with his prices.

Hope this helps.

Thank you both for the input. You have both confirmed my doubts.

Two buyers got into a bidding war over this lot and it ended up at $182. It's a shame they don't read SCF!
