A general question here:

I'm a long-time specialist in several classic era issues from Denmark and Sweden. As a result, there's a certain amount of "flyspecking" (the practice of looking at stamps for TINY plate variations) involved.

I've mostly been using high resolution scans to look at groups of stamps mounted on Hagner sheets... but I find myself wondering if using a USB microscope is more convenient. It strikes me that using a microscope offers a "live" view, making it easier to go back and forth between items than opening scans in PhotoShop. But I'm not sure...

I'll add that there's nothing "wrong" with the scanner... I have settings that can scan a gnat's eyeball (6400dpi optical); it's more the "hassle factor" I'm considering.

Thanks for any comments, suggestions and feedback.
