Hi, I'm a firsttimer to this forum and have a question for all of you out there. My dad had collected in a special collectors album, what appears to be a complete set of new-hinged single stamps of the British Empire (including Canada) for the 1937 Coronation. Is it better to leave the stamps all together or break them up? Also, could anyone give me someplace to go to determine value or help me out with an estimate of value?
Third Q. How would one go about collecting a full set of the British Empire (such as it is)of the current Queen's Jubilee?
Thanks

Hi Topmap

For myself personally, I would leave them altogether as a unit since they are housed in a specific album just for the 1937 coronation.

As far as pricing is concerned, I would just google the "1937 Coronation stamps" and see what comes up. The same can be said for the current queen and I know that there must be dealers out there selling stamps for this occasion.

Hope this helps?

Depends. If you like them that way leave them. If you want to collect by country or some other way them break them up. Usually stamps of a same theme will be worth more when selling altogether like they are now. Takes time and effort to achieve a thematic collection.

Scott general worldwide catalogue in the library. If no library or catalogues then looking at dealer sites on the web as Bujutsu suggested gives you an idea of what They are selling them for. Doesn't mean you could sell them for that though. Dealers have to make profit to stay in business.

There may be dealers doing this, bundling them all together or accumulating them, yes.

You could Google for a site that lists all the contributing countries, if one exists.

Using ebay, Delcampe, Bidstart, and other online sites you could purchase them all yourself or get in contact with different Post Offices around the world and buy them that way.

Either spend your time looking or spend your money paying someone who has done the looking for you.

May be an album will be made for the event to colelct your sets and singles into but that probably wouldn't come out for a year or so. You could always print your own pages or make your own.
