Herewith are some album pages from the collection assembled by P L Jackson which I was fortunate enough to acquire a little while ago. The sequence follows that in the ring-binder the collection came in so may not be entirely logical. Some of the material is not strictly cinderella in nature and, although I have omitted much such material, I have left some in to show the overall range covered. Some of the pages, from labels attached to the reverse of the pages, have clearly been exhibited, others are obviously not finished or complete. I am looking forward to adding to it all as I get the chance. Chris Wren

Very nice indeed.
I only collect the Exhibition stuff in Cinderellas so it was nice to see other pieces, Congress and Postage stamps/sheets.

two questions for now:

What number is on the back of the 1979 Yellow/Orange sheet ?
What colour is the cancel on the reverse of the 1972 BPE [Malta] sheet ?
This is the first time I have seen one or two items, most notably the 1963 [or 1964] Kennedy sheet. A nice story surrounding that one.
I always find it strange that some very cheap items are hardly ever seen....same with postage stamps too !

Thanks for showing such great stuff.

The name P.L. Jackson is familiar...must check some magazines.

Nice that there are a few things new for you! The yellow PUC £1 sheet for 1979 is numbered 633 (of 750 issued as presentation items to stewards and dignitaries). The cancellation on the back of the 1972 Malta BPE is in black as a 36mm diameter CDS and dated 4th November 1972 and is numbered 7044 as image:

I haven't researched Mr Jackson yet but I think he must be (or have been?) well known on the UK stamp scene. The album includes various 'thank you's' from various exhibition organising bodies for his 'support'. Chris Wren

A spot of research is afoot I declare !
Last year at the Stafford Show [June], I found a dealer with some Exhibition sheets....a few different ones that I did not have. Included was a variety of the QV £5 BPE sheet with partially missing text and the Trade Sample sheet. The dealer also had the 1979 Yellow-Orange [Mr.Jackson wrote Yellow but this is not correct as there is a Yellow Sheet] but it was numbered 641. I remembered from the Catalogue that 632 copies were numbered for Presentation purposes and so I contacted Graham Wilson the Co-Author and told him of my finds. He did let on that it was most likely, 650 Yellow-Orange copies were produced but here I see Mr.Jackson stating 750.
Interesting.
It may have something to do with extra copies being ordered for insertion into the Menu of the Exhibition Dinner at the Wembley Conference Centre Grill. I have yet to speak to someone who was present at the dinner and my research goes on.

Wonderful stuff.

How interesting! I have not seen a Trade Sample marked item except for this £5 orange one which Jackson says was given to the press. The Jackson copy of the £1 PUC of 1979 is certainly yellow-orange rather than yellow (although his typescript label does indeed say yellow - a typo?). Extra copies over the 632 (or 650) copies listed could indeed be accounted for if they were included in the dinner paperwork or similar and a nice round number of 100 sounds about right. I will have a look through the rest of the material, which does include such things as dinner menus, invitations, etc and see if they give any clues.

He was Peter L. Jackson - one of the items gives his name thus. Two addresses are mentioned. Many of the 'exhibition' pages have an address label for 52 Moorend Crescent, Cheltenham and this is associated with dates in the middle 1990s to 2000. An earlier address, on a cover for 1979, gives the address 12 Moss Hall Crescent, North Finchley, London

Wonderful items ,Thank you for sharing.
I see a few "Penny black" Labels that would fit nicely into my display.
