I've said over and over I don't collect First Day Covers (I acquire them). Here are some I won in a draw tonight at the club.

Funky 1962 cachet. Terrible postmark!

Boring homemade cover. It has a Look magazine ad inside the envelope.

Olympic FDC from the folks at The Canadian Bank Note. There's a lovely engraved card inside to remind you who sent it.

And I thrilled with this imaginative and decorative cachet from our friends at Canada Post. Always happy to remind you what a great job we're doing.

Hello Jamesw

That's fantastic. Congratulations on your win.

That's great to see...fantastic covers...especially the 1962 cover

I noticed that the 1855 stampless cover, and the 1976 cover are sent to the same person....Amazing, there is 120 years in between.....

Congratulations on your winning Jamesw

Like you, I do not seek out the FDCs per se, but also acquire them.

I hope to make it to the Barrie auction this Spring.

Gilles, I didn't even notice the names on the different envelopes. The initial on the stampless cover does look like a J, but I think it's a T. In fact, on the notice inside, it's written like a Y.
Unfortunately Ridgefield Rd in in north central Toronto, while Etobicoke is a part of Toronto's west end.
Wouldn't have it been great to be in the same area. Quite a coincidence none the less. Maybe one Montgomery is a descendant of the other?

Philcan, where on the link you posted is a writeup about the Canada Post Office Dept. cover? I've been looking and can't find it. I'm really interested to find out what this is.

Please explain. I'm curious but they all seem to have different people unless you changed the pictures or something??

ILS
The two cover mentioned were both addressed to people named Montgomery, T. Montgomery (the stampless cover shown on another thread) and J(im) Montgomery.
Admittedly the T. on the stampless looks somewhat like a J, but it's really not.
I think Gilles was making a funny.

Well, I really thought they were addressed to the same "name", perhaps from the same family but I was wrong...
