Hi guys

Just for your information, ALL King George V stamps have a flaw in them...Don't know if anyone recognized it, but look at the picture, there is an extra line on all the stamps and does not appear on the other mirrored side.

If ALL King George V stamps have that same mark is it safe to say it was also part of the original design and therefore not a "flaw" per-say ?
What do we have to compare it with?
I guess I will be now looking for one which doesn`t!

stamp4life

Maybe the word "flaw" is not appropriate, but who knows if the engraver made a mistake and the proof reader was on his/her break...

stamp4life....Let us know if you come across one.

Hi Wert
I've never noticed that every stamp in the King George V "ARCH/LEAF" issue had this extra line in it. Good catch !
It is not mentioned in Unitrade.

The "ARCH/LEAF" issue includes pane stamps 162 through 172, coil stamps 178 through 183 and the provisional stamp 191.

In my opinion, the "Subject" should always include catalogue numbers, if known, as a general statement doesn't always fit the subject matter presented.

Your discovery does not include the other King George V stamps in:

The "Admiral" issues;
- pane stamps (104 through 122) or
- coils (123 thrugh 130) or
- experimental coils (166x) or
- imperforate pane stamps (136, 137 and 138) or
- provisionals (139 and 140).

The "Scroll " issues:
- pane stamps (149 through 154) or
- coils (160 and 161)

The "Medallion" issue:
- pane stamps (195 through 200) or
- coils (205, 206 and 207)

The "Silver Jubilee" issue:
- pane stamp (213)

The "Pictorial" issue:
- pane stamps (217 through 222) or
- coils (228, 229 and 230)

The "WAR TAX" issues:
- War tax panes (MR1 and MR2) or
- ITC panes (Mr3 through MR7).

Hi BlackJag

I don't think Unitrade makes note of it because it is a common design, even if we think it is and intentional or non intentional design flaw.

Hi Wert

You are quite possibly correct, but I did send it on to the Unitrade editor for his consideration.

These would be good to mention at the stamp club. They have quizzes some nights and extra informative bits like you are always finding wert, would be on interest.

It's good to look more closely at your stamps, helps you appreciate them more.
