Good afternoon all!

I haven't been in this forum in the past because as a new stamp collector, I only collect US stamps. I've bought some revenue stamps (because they look beautiful), but nothing else.

Recently, my grandfather shipped me his collection. He knows I collect stamps, and will take care of them. There is a lot of great US stamps, but a lot of United Nation stamps from the early 80s. What I'm guessing, is that he may have joined a club (the cover letter is from The Commemorative Postal Society), received a few shipments, then for whatever reason, stopped.

I would like to scan a few samples of probably 50+ pages, full sheets and first day covers for your review. I'm looking to understand their value, and appreciate any information the community could offer. I'm not going to keep the non-US items, as I have enough time in my day to dedicate to my US collection as it is!

All proceeds will go right back into some pre-1900 US stamps

Let me know if there is enough activity and interest in seeing some samples!

Sure, we all love seeing different items. Also, I'm sure there are collectors here that venture down the same road as your grandfather.

Hey! Thanks for the interest. Here are a few samples of over 100 pieces.

I think they are great pieces, but like I said, I barely have time to get involved with anything other than US stamps.

The Scott album shows these in either single pieces or se-tenant blocks of 4 - nothing in the formats I've received. For example, #424 is worth $1.00 mint - but that's all...

Appreciate any other information, or just your honest opinions!

Cardinal Bass

I have over 70 full sheets of 1981-1984 US stamps to go through and find sheet mounts for that were included in the shipment.

I see that Scott's lists the different "Future of Refugees" issue, 1 listed under the UN, 1 under offices in Vienna and 1 under Offices in Switzerland. The Catalog values for inscription blocks of 4 go from $2-$5, but that's for blocks of 4. Each of the corresponding FDC's were all under 200,00 released, so I'd hang on to them if you like them as 200K in the stamp world isn't a lot. Attractive groups !

Thanks Stallzer - you're right. Compared to stamps issued in the millions, I should tuck them away and let them age...
