Why use regular mail?

From a recent May 2012 Metro newspaper:

ePost has been around a while. This is the first ad I have seen for it in a while. Flashier and the web site seems flashier (more professional, fast, useful, etc) also so maybe they are doing more business.

Electronic record keeping for you.

Canada Post is simply allowing you to keep the eBillings from your suppliers in one place. The suppliers are the ones using eBills to keep their costs down (producing, preparing and mailing hard copy invoices). I generally want hard copies as computer systems fail and information is lost. Hard copies are much easier to find, to read and easy to file by supplier.

Personally, I hate receiving eCards and will never send one. Once received, I see what it is, then erase it immediately and assume that the sender is just too cheap and lazy to really care about our family.

You may be right Bujutsu...

Remember if everyone went to e-bill probably 10% of the actual letters coming to your house and other business's would stop...There goes the price of stamps, there goes jobs and maybe the quality of stamps that collectors expect will diminish and I think this great hobby would suffer.

Hey, but that's just my opinion.

You may be right wert. Canada Post just posted another loss and articles of privatization are on the rise. I think it's CP's prelude to another rate hike. I don't think I've ever got an ePost except for birthday cards etc but I sure do get a lot of junk mail. Indeed, sometimes the postman is so friendly he gives me two of each.

No, no, please God no. I want them to stop the whole ePost thing and go back to horse and buggies and all those neat postmarks all over the envelopes. Kept the internet though for stamp forums.

It's just that it almost seems like in order to get any good (read stamps on) mail I have to send stuff to myself. I send good mail too, though, so it's always good getting mail from myself! The letters are boring though. I already know everything that happened.

I suppose one should give before one thinks about receiving though. Give unto others and all that.

fixed typo

Well, I am one of those guys who like to see all sides if I can and see the good in a thing and all that if I can. There must be some good to the ePost idea I suppose? Mustn't there? Oh, and I say 'it depends' a lot too.

Maybe if they had pictures of horses and buggies on their web site to make me feel better? Or maybe a picture of a stamp? Something.

Example: US stamp of an Amish horse and buggy in Pennsylvania.

Maybe the Amish folk know something we all don't quite get yet after all? What's the darn airplane doing on the stamp anyway? What's all the rush?

Puzzler...A much more relaxed time....!

But, if you sent a bill in the mail, you better send it a month in advance, cause it would take that long in horse and buggy...
