I was just browsing through my Unitrade 2012 catalogue, and I noticed that the 2010 Blue Whale $10 #2405 is valued at $20! I just bought one of these directly from the Canada Post website for face value. After a quick look at ebay, some people are trying to sell USED copies for up to $40. This might be a good lesson for newer issues.. check for old stock at the postage issuer before wasting a bunch of money. Maybe I will stock up on a bunch of them to sell next year when they are worth even more.

These aren't over-priced, they're under-appreciated!

But seriously, a genuine, postally used copy of this stamp is actually tough to find. Stallzer has a nice CTO, but it's not as desirable.

As for the cat value, Scott lists the catalogue value of all new issues as twice face value ... and Unitrade followed Scott's example. Unrealistic, I know, but it is a practice that pre-dates me.

As stated earlier, good used copies will be quite desirable.

On a similar note, take a look at how much good used examples of the $8.00 Grizzily stamps are selling for. All the high value animal series seem to be an item to look for in VF used condition.

None or hardly any are starting at 99c . Seems to be many out there. Market saturation time.

I notice that not many singles still have the neat selvedge still attached showing the little divers. That makes for a good looking stamp I think. So it doesn't fit into someone's idea of an album page. Big whoopy.

Someone artistic could draw a picture surrounding it that shows the Bluenose schooner along-side maybe and other interesting bits. And a diver or two. Jonah and the whale. Drama.

Time to learn drawing here.
