A fairly inexpensive cover that I paid too much for ($7), but the canceled Schaubek label on the back, and the unusual destination are the reasons I purchased it.

Not surprisingly, the cachet on the cover is Soviet themed to go along with a pair of Stalin commemorative stamps.

Nice rileysan

I used to have an old Schaubek album at one time. I swear it weighed close to 15 pounds - - really <G>

Nice cover Brian!

It is a FDC. "Ersttagsbrief." 3/5/54 was the first day of issue for that stamp. It was sent to a stamp company, Colon Philately. Maybe as a courtesy??

Experienced stamps need a home too. I'd rather have an example that is imperfect than no example.
I collect for enjoyment, not investment.

I didn't catch the fact that it was a FDC. I'm not the least bit surprised that it's philatelically used and was sent to a stamp company.

What I really find amusing (and ironic) is that this cover serves as an advertising piece for a corporation (Schaubek) in spite of East Germany's aversion to capitalism.
