For a quarter of a century I have done with out a drying book. I never had a problem as I used anything from paper towels to cloth towels. For the most part this worked real well though it did take up some space.

However this changed when I purchased one 1/2 pound bag of stamps with paper then I bought two more. I just didn't have the space to do mass soaking and for the first time I had stamps sticking to paper towel and just about everything else I tired.

So yes I now own two drying books, such a simple product that makes soaking large amount of stamps easy. I am using Showgard books and so far they have been a life saver allowing me to do the job quicker with a minimum of space needed.

Thanks mk. I had never heard of drying books and was going to post about them. You just saved me from doing it. I am thinking about getting some kiloware for crazy and I to look through later.

Hello MK....

Stamps sticking to your drying paper do so because of tiny bits of left over gum, and that **** stuff will stick to just about anything including a drying book. With the new peel-&-sticks I've found that gently rubbing the backs & edges during a final rinse will eliminate most sticking problems.

Stamps that have any gum residue will stick to an album page or the inside of a mount.

I would say the drying books are perfection. I have just soaked over 400 stamps with out one sticking. The great thing was that it took up no more space than Scott catalog to dry them all at one time. So I give a vote of approval for the new drying books I just bought.

I also use a large drying book and find it indespensible. One warning! Pay attention to what you're doing. If you put the gummed side of the stamp on the wrong side of the page, instead of the coated side, they can really stick. I haven't done this myself, of course, but I've heard of it happening.
