Irishjack, in the Unitrade Specialized Canada Catalogue on page 25 in my 2010 edition under the heading of Paper, it covers wet printing on Admiral issues. The following sentence will be of help: "The wet printings were usually made with the stamp design running vertically along the grain and copies are noticeably narrower than those from dry printings because the dampened paper shrank slightly as it dried."

One of the easiest methord of determining wet or dry printing is to look at the gummed side. On dry printings the impression of the plate can be seen in the gum. On wet printings, the gum is smooth because it is not applied until the sheet has dried and it fills in the plate impression.

Well, it might also indicate that the stamp have been regummed... The best way is to compare the width of the stamp with one of the same series that have been confirmed to be WET or DRY printing...
