Can anyone out there supply some background for these? Some internet trolling found the design in various values and colors offered in an auction but no information on the issue was given.

From Chan: "The Foochow Local Post was established on 1 January 1895 and issued stamps on 1 August of the same year."

Regarding the design: "The central design of the stamp is a Dragon Boat. The stamps were designed by Mencarini and lithographed by Waterlow and Sons, London, England."

Chan prices the ˝ cent blue at $HK4 mint. The ˝ cent orange is from the second (1896) issue, Chan LF10 priced at $HK5 mint.

Thanks all, for the information.

They caught my eye because of the Dragon Boat in the design as I have a close friend, a cancer survivor, who is very much into the yearly dragon boat races and the fund raising for Cancer Research held in Victoria, BC.

SG lists the ˝ cent blue as SG 1 from 1895 and the ˝ cent yellow as SG 10 from 1896.
