Hey guys, I've got a tough one.

I'm trying to find a dealer who deals with Guinea Bissau issues. I'm trying to find a stamp issued in 1986, not listed in scott, in MNH condition. Guinea Bissau 1986 PAIGC Congress. This is a picture of it:

Does anyone know who could I contect or where I could get this stamp? Any help is much appreciated. Thank you.

If you Google the phrase "dealer in guinea-bissau stamps," you get over 200,000 hits. The first dozen I looked at were all stamp dealers who specifically mentioned offering a stock of sets and singles...

That IS first-hand information. You email each dealer, one by one, with an image of the stamp, and ask if they have one for sale...

And I already did that with 50+ dealers. Including most of the ones Google throws up. Most of those hits are worhtless since a dealer can have a set or two from Guinea Bissau and that's it.

Maybe the 50+ dealers you have contacted do not deal in Bogus items.

You guys are just massively helpful. Really.

I've been looking for this stamp for a few years, guess coming here wasn't a step in the right direction. Hoping someone has a contact in africa, or something. Too bad.

Experts in Guinee-Bissau are few and far between I fear and do not know of one on this forum. But I can tell you it is a Bogus stamp and will not be listed in any postage stamp catalogue.

There are plenty of Bogus stamp dealers about on ebay or Delcampe and I suggest searching those places and see what you come up with.

But judging from your tone it would appear you want us to do the job for you ! I am sure I can speak on behalf of Doug, as well as myself, in saying that is not the way to go about things.....and I am pretty sure this is not the only reason you came to the forum.

Now here is something I did not know 5 minutes ago. Herrick Stamp Company in the USA are a big dealer in Guinee-Bissau. Try them.

I could leave a link but that would be just too easy.

Do what job for me? I wanted to see if the right person was on these forums. All that person would have to do is say ME ME ME. So I'm not sure what you think I need from you.

I've already contacted Herrick. Zilch. So no need to strain yourself with a link. I check ebay and delcame a few times a week. It would appear that I haven't made it clear that I've been trying very hard to find this stamp.

Come on guys, it's fair enough to come here and ask a question, that's what this place is for. If all we did was google everything we wanted to know, there'd be no point in having a forum. Filatelist is clearly looking for advice, not just an answer. Sometimes a request for info is as much a request for conversation and interaction, or just shooting the breeze. Let's give new members a break, and offer a welcome instead.

Thank you, scifi7. I hold the same opinion, that always pointing towards Google is not the point on forums.

I was just looking if there's anyone here that has experience with Guinea Bissau issues, maybe a dealer posts here, someone with connections in africa, or something like that. I can, and do, Google on my own. Got all the various keywords down, in several languages. From my experience, web stamp stores aren't that eager to go the extra mile for you and start contacting people in their stamp network, to help you find a stamp. I know one or two that do, but they can't help me.

If that person that you want to say ME ME ME they can't the rules of the fourm state that members must have 50 posts before they can trade sell, so once you have 50 posts then those members can contact you.

I was looking on Mercado Livre in Brazil http://lista.mercadolivre.com.br/-guine-bissau
(in Portuguese of course) (Guine Bissau) and while your stamp was not on there there was a few collections being sold page by page. Perhaps some of those sellers could be messaged and asked about your stamp?

There is always ebay in Spain also (check for dealers who don't like to sell outside Europe) (so sign on to ebay dot es, not dot com).

I would think that since this seems to be a rarer stamp than normal any dealer in Portugal or Spain would know about it more than others as it was a Portuguese colony. My Portuguese in only good for searching for stamps unfortunately.

The only mention I found to this stamp so far is on the Post Beeld site as a stamp they have had but no picture.

I must say I haven't yet gone the way of colonies dealers. I've found a few, including Associaçâo de Comerciantes Filatelicos de Portugal [ACOFIL], and sent them an email. Still looking for an email for ACOFIL though. Could be a good lead.

Actually Michel does list it. Michel #A896, catalog value 6 Euro mint, and about 3 Euro used.

I'd say your best bet is to go through approvals and bulk lots, and hope for a miracle.

Hey give us a little time! You have only been a member for a day. We have thousands of members who don't necessarily visit every day or even every week. Maybe our Equatorial Guinea expert is on holidays.

As you can see by the post above, a catalogue number has even been found - we are getting somewhere!

Oh and welcome to SCF, it is nice to have a member from the beautiful country of Slovenia.

One question - why do you want that stamp so badly?
