Andy that's what I use. School Glue sticks from the Dollar store. Six sticks in a package for a dollar and in three years I've gone through two sticks and just starting my third. They work great and the stamp mounts never fall off the page. They will damage the page however if you should ever find a reason to move a mount. That I found out when moving stamps to a new supplement page. |

My new Davo Australia Vol 1 album arrived. I am very disappointed. It's a beautiful stamp album, well made, the hinges seem to be attached very well but it is a 2 post screw in type binder and does not lay flat, also there is no information in it at all. Nothing that will tell you anything about the stamp, only that it is 1d red, no information for dies, varieties or whatever. Can't blame anyone but myself. I jumped on it and I got it. For Australia I see nothing better than Seven Seas, costly but good. Wish postage from Australia wasn't so expensive. I will keep this, after all I bought it, and will use it for duplicates. Better luck next time. |

The Voyager WW albums were/are made the same way. Very poor design. Two screw in posts and don't lay flat. |

I have 2 very large Voyager albums that are 3 ring and lay flat. Maybe they made different ones. I think I had a Scott album that had the screw type posts. I have 2 H.E. Harris Liberty albums that are screw type post. Nothing beats a good 3 ring binder. My Seven Seas albums lay flat and are great to work with. |

Mystics American Heirloom is a three ring that lays flat. The rings are D style. I watch and any binder I buy no matter what for has got the D rings or I don't buy it. |

I too received a couple of Luxe Davo albums, Swiss Vol I and II, and they are two-post. While they don't like completely flat, they do lie open, so I have no problem with that, especially with the mounts. You are right, they have no information. But, I knew this before purchasing though. The pages are a little too white for my tastes, but the albums are very good looking overall. What surprises me about a lot of album manufacturers is the fact they don't provide good previews of their pages. Davo's website is pretty bad from that aspect. I actually dislike most 3-post binders, especially when thin paper is involved (say less than 60 lb text). Reasons: cheap construction of the binder in most cases (e.g., Scott 3-rings) and increased wear of the paper holes. |

With my 3 ring binders I ALWAYS use reinforcement labels and have never had wear of the paper holes. |

Well- remember me from last week? I decided against asking Mystic for a sample, I just ordered a premium album and it arrived today. Nice binders, no problem there. The paper on the pages is the same old lightweight paper sock. it is NOT 7o pound. It is exactly the same as the paper on my current pages. I am not going to send it back, I like the binders and can treat this as an upgrade for them but it's sort of disconcerting. I have sent them an email and will see what they say. |

Guess that's your fault for not asking for a sample page. But I thought you found an ad when we was looking in their ads that night that said 70Lb weight. My American Heirloom certainly isn't 70-Lb. It's more like 30-40 Lb weight. Use GLUE STICKS! Don't lick the mounts. I also keep an eye on the pages and if I get one that starts to wear. I have gotten a couple that started to tear. Put those little round white hole reinforcers on the page front side and back side. I was going to do all the pages at first then decided against it because too many pages and it would make the album too thick. So just watch the paper and if it starts to wear. Put the page protectors on the holes. I did the front and back of the page just so I wouldn't have a problem down the road. I'm sure though that you could order one page or two from Mystic if it was necessary. Might take a week or so to get it but Heuy when your retired you always have more time than money. Chuck |

Yeah I sent them a link to the page on their site that said there was 70 lb. weight paper. The pages I got are the same stuff as their regular pages, not near that heavy.
Tell you the truth I doubt they would have mailed me a sample page. I also wonder if whomever filled this order just sent me a set of lightweight pages? IOW, do they have a heavier set of them and maybe tried to pass off the cheap ones in this order? Will see what they say- their standard pages- what I got with this album- are NOT 70 weight. |

Well if you remember I told you their ad said the same pages as used In the Mystic Heirloom Album. I have actually saw ads going both ways. Now here is a trick Mystic and a lot of companies use. Mystic is really bad about this. When you order either by phone or if by order form. They always ask if your ordering from a catalog list the catalog number found on the back of the catalog. The reason they do that is when they run a sale. They print four catalogs/sales brochures in a two month period. The same item may have three different prices. Two higher than one which is really the only sale price. You may look at a catalog thinking well I'll order that. But when you actually place your order you may be ordering out of one of the two higher priced catalogs for the same item. Or another trick is of you don't ask for the giveaway that is one the front page and different in every catalog you won't get the Free-Bee or you will think your getting one in fact your getting another or getting nothing. Mystic will never remind you that hey if you order $25 from this catalog you will get 500 Profit Shares Free. I've actually forgot to ask for it and called back ten minuets later and ask for the Bonus. Of course they always give you the bonus. You just have to give them the Bonus # found on the front in the little box. It's just a little trick that if not caught YOU LOSE. |

I hope what I said above makes sense. Call them by all means and read them what the ad that says 70Lb heavier pages. And tell them they sent you the regular weight pages. I'll bet. They will send you the correct pages, a return envelope and a return address label. Mailing back will be at their expense. Let us know what happens. It's almost like a bait and switch. Chuck |

When they advertise 70lb is that 70lb text/book, index or cover? It makes a difference though the album companies never specify. I have no experience with Mystic, but I spent a good deal of time picking out paper to match the thickness of Scott National pages. I found an advertisement of 80lb for Scott National pages, but found that 100 lb text was closer than 80 lb text. I concluded that Scott must be using 80lb index. It would be nice if album companies advertised their pages in metric (grams /sq meter) then it would be much easier. There's a conversion chart on this page: http://www.paper-paper.com/weight.html |
