Netherlands is one of those countries that you can pick up No. 1 (issued in 1852) for little money.

Here is my recent acquisition:

King William III.

Nicely engraved, a real classic. Close margins, but not cut.

Now to find No. 2, which is even priced lower

Are you trying to start something Bee See ? when I started collecting Netherlands in the late 1960's ...it was catch as catch can..but now with the internet you get an idea of how much is out there and the prices (in my opinion) have come down !!

Hi guys, I don't know about amazing..but I have been fortunate over the years to find nice covers..as for stamps I am still missing one of the "seagull" airmails among a few other hi value ones..i feel I do not have to take a collection to completion(unlike some of my friends) its a matter of "if the price is right" !

Wow, great cover Phil!
It always strikes me how little information was needed in those days for a letter to arrive. It took me some time to decipher the handwriting, but it just says: "den heer Servatius / Directeur van den Nationale Hypotheekbank / Amsterdam" (in English: "mr. Servatius / managing director of the National Mortgage Bank / Amsterdam")
